What Are Composite Doors?

Composite doors are manufactured using a composition of different materials, with a solid timber core, insulating foam and glass reinforced plastic (GRP) as the key components.

  • The door leaf is made of high-density polyurethane foam, with timber being used in the sub-frame for extra strength.
  • Aluminium inserts are used on both sides to prevent the door from warping or bowing.
  • The doors are finished off with a GRP outer skin, which is immune to sun fade and discolouration. It’s the same material used to make the hull of boats!

All composite doors offer superior water-tightness and wind resistance.

They are available with a large selection of colour options and glazed finishes. Prices start FROM £750.

Your specific needs will dictate whether you choose composite doors or uPVC doors.

Both options can last for years with good care. However, composite doors are purpose-made to withstand the elements and heavy use. This makes them ideal for areas with extreme weather conditions or commercial spaces, like guest houses, where doors experience more frequent use.

uPVC remains popular for its versatility and more cost-effective price. Both are excellent options and depend on your budget and needs.

Only soapy water is needed to clean the door frame, door leaf, external and leaded glass, and hardware. Ensure the hinges and hardware are regularly lubricated with light engineering fluid on their moving parts.

Our composite doors come with the option of a uPVC or aluminium outer frame, ensuring a perfect fit. The frame helps keep your door more secure and prevents warping.
